Pretend, a poem by Solomon and Daddy

Today I wanted
And yesterday I wanted
And the day before yesterday
All the way up to here
I wanted to play superheroes.
I had to check the calendar for who to pretend to be
If it’s Wolverine’s day I go like this with my fists out and legs wide
If it’s Superman I fly with arms outstretched.
Yesterday and like today I was Lion Head.
He can bite any villain.
Are you a villain?
We have to pretend someone’s a villain. Okay?
“Arrh!”
I’m Arrhing at the bad guy.
Arrhing? What’s arrhing?
Okay, I’m gonna get my ring.
Here it is. I want to show you.
Is this diamondy?
My hypnotizing ring.
